Race Info
The Hoover Dam Marathon starts and finishes at Boulder Beach in Lake Mead National Recreation Area, about 18 miles from Las Vegas, Nevada. The out-and-back course follows the paved River Mountains Loop Trail and the Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail through the old railroad tunnels built in the 1930s to haul materials for Hoover Dam, then drops by switchbacks to a loop at the dam's upper parking garage before returning to Boulder Beach. Marathoners run the course twice, and the route does not cross the dam. About 14 miles of the marathon is hard-packed dirt trail, with the rest on pavement. Source
