Race Info
Humpy's Marathon is the marathon anchor of Anchorage RunFest, a multi-day running festival in Anchorage, Alaska, organized by the Anchorage Running Club each August. The out-and-back course starts and finishes on downtown 6th Avenue, follows the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail along Cook Inlet past Westchester Lagoon and Earthquake Park to a turnaround near Point Woronzof, then returns via the Chester Creek Trail. The race dates to 1996 as Humpy's Marathon, was renamed Big Wild Life Runs in 2008 and Anchorage RunFest in 2015, keeping its original marathon name and its sponsor, Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse, for which finisher medals read 'Fishiner' instead of 'Finisher' (a humpy is a type of salmon). It is a USATF-certified Boston Marathon qualifier.
