Runners will face a temperature increase from 55°F to 74°F, with average humidity at 58% and a dew point of 48°F. Winds will be out of the S with speeds reaching 14 mph and gusts up to 29 mph. Runners should consider adjusting their pace as temperatures rise and stay hydrated throughout the race.
In 2010, the Wichita Sports Commission took ownership of the Prairie Fire Marathon (previously known as the Wichita Marathon), now presented by Davis-Moore Automotive Group. For the first time, not only was a full marathon race offered, but also a half marathon, 5K, youth marathon, and one-mile walk. In 2013, we expanded into the Spring running season offering our Half Marathon, 5K, Sparky’s Kids Mile, and a Fun Run/Walk. Both the Spring and Fall events make up the Prairie Fire Race Series.
