Makoa Half Marathon
Race Day Weather
Warm and breezy, adjust pace accordingly
Runners will face a consistent temperature of 77°F throughout the race, with high humidity at 75%. A headwind will challenge runners in miles 1-2, 4, and 10-11, making pacing adjustments essential during those segments. Wind gusts up to 27 mph may require extra effort in exposed areas, particularly during the headwind stretches. Hydration should be prioritized given the warmth and humidity.

Race Info
The Makoa 5K, 10K and Half Marathon runs each November at Wai Kai, a waterfront recreation facility on Ewa Beach's West O'ahu shoreline. The course starts at Wai Kai and follows Keone'ula Boulevard before turning onto Papipi Road for a flat run along the coast. "Makoa" is a Hawaiian name meaning brave or fearless. The race is one of six annual events organized by Aloha Racing across O'ahu and has run since 2023.
